Laser toning is used at Beauty Grace to treat a range of skin pigmentation issues including melasma, PIH, hyper pigmentation, brown spots, and freckles. In the past, conventional laser toning has been used with reasonable success but only for Fitzpatrick skin types I through to III, unfortunately it was inappropriate for skin type IV or higher (most Asian and darker skin individuals). The new Beauty Laser toning uses the Q-switch mode with their ultrashort pulse and reliable top-hat beam profile which enables safe and efficacious treatment of dermal and epidermal melasma in patients of all skin types.
This treatment, treats pigmentation, sun damage melasma, and even acne scars. This Laser uses acoustic vibrations to break up the pigments which scatter into small pieces. The benefit of this laser treatment compared to the IPL or Fraxel is that it goes deeper underneath the skin and causes the Melanin to scatter
We apply a thick carbon cream on the face in order to absorb some of the Laser and cause it to penetrate deeper into the skin. The Spectra laser is then applied to the skin. The non-ablative laser works by penetrating skin and targeting areas of pigmentation, such as melasma and other dark spots and lesions, destroying the melanin cells that cause them without damaging the surrounding, healthy tissue. This treatment may also reduce pore size and the appearance of fine wrinkles, and improve the overall texture of the treated skin. Most patients need to receive 6-8 sessions of Laer Toning treatments to see full results.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Who is suitable for?
There are a few conditions for which you should consider Laser Toning. It can be a very effective tool for reducing the appearance of melasma, or areas of brown skin pigmentation usually brought on by hormonal shifts, such as pregnancy. Laser Toning can also help reduce the appearance of other dark spots and lesions, as well as pores and fine wrinkles.
What is the recovery time for Laser Toning?
There is no patient downtime associated with the laser toning treatment. Most patients can return to their normal daily activities immediately after treatment. Take care to use a high SPF sunscreen on all treated areas and avoid direct sun exposure before and after treatment. Prolonged sun exposure can cause and exacerbate existing melasma, and sun exposure directly after laser treatment can increase the risk of hyper-pigmentation.
Are there risks or side effects with Laser Toning?
This is a non-ablative laser procedure, which means the laser works without heating the surface of the skin. This translates to virtually no pain or downtime for the patient.
How long do the results last?
The Laser Toning treatment is a gradual process. Most patients will need to undergo 6-8 sessions before they begin to see results. Avoiding sun exposure before and after treatment can help to maximize and prolong results.
Does the treatment hurt and long does the treatment take?
The treatment is painless and it only takes about 30-40 minutes.
