Begin your treatment with a comforting Beauty Grace Hand & Foot rub down with a freshly steamed towel, to help loosen your senses. Followed by a brief back massage specifically designed for deep relaxation.
Highly concentrated professional cleansers that are water soluble, each thoroughly cleansing a specific skin imbalance. These cleansers are pH balanced, thus never drying the skin, and do not leave the skin feeling "tight". Our cleanse is used together with a facial steamer, for added effectiveness.
A professional toner is applied to the skin, following cleansing to help add further hydration to the skin and more importantly, to increase product penetration and to even out porosity.
A clear picture of the current state of your skin, from which treatment can be made by our skin therapist is established. In almost all cases, skin analysis allows our skin therapists to take control of their skin care in the right way, and by detecting any possible issues early, thus picking up underlying conditions you might not have known you had, such as broken capillaries and pigmentation.
In addition, your skin type will also be determined. This is an important part of assessing whether or not your skin care regime is appropriate for you.
A deep biological exfoliation takes place to help remove the superficial layers of dead skin cells, which lends itself to revealing fresher, young skin, thus allowing better penetration of products.
This procedure removes comedones from the skin without further spreading acne or breakout-causing bacteria, thus minimising the impact to the health of the skin.
A pressure point massage to the face, neck and shoulder will increase muscle tone, detoxify and relax the nervous system without over stimulating the glands.
Not forgetting of course, this just happens to be the most rewarding, pampering and relaxing part of the treatment.
A clay based cooling mask which absorbs excessive oil secretions, eliminates impurities and lightens the complexion of the skin.
A specific professional moisturiser for your skin type is applied onto the skin, to aid with the skin's natural defences against the environment while regulating moisture loss.
Combine this treatment with Omnilux blue light therapy for an additional $60 for the ultimate acne solution.
Problem skin or acne, results from over-production of the normal lipid (fat-like) secretion called sebum. It covers the skin in a thin, protective layer. Sebaceous follicles are the little tubes that conduct the sebum from the gland to the skin surface.
This in turn causes accumulation and plugging of the conducting tubes (sebaceous follicles) with black heads or white heads, thus causing an infection, followed by the micro-abscesses which are the visible pimples. These abscesses do not remain small, but grow into large infected abscesses which can lead to severe scarring. These small micro-abscesses are different to skin abscesses like the bacteria found in the pus, which really only live there and cause more inflammation rather than ever increasing damage to surrounding tissue as one would find with a boil.
It therefore stands to reason that the successful long term management of acne would require three essential steps; 1) normalising sebum production, 2) normalising the behaviour of the cells lining the sebaceous follicles and, 3) eliminating the co-habitant bacteria.
Triggered by hormones, acne can occur at any stage of our lifespan. The primary aggravating factor leading to adult acne is chronic stress. We all know that acute stress and temporary stress can cause breakouts from time to time. But chronic, continual stress increases hormone levels, which can lead to an increase in oil production.
Adult acne can be aggravated by internal and external factors. Internally, the psychological effects or adult acne can contribute to continued flare-ups and breakouts. When adults are frustrated, the signs of acne on their skin causes additional emotional stress, which contributes to a continued increase in over-activity of the sebaceous glands and leads to the continued cycle of breakouts. Externally, the need to "pick" or "squeeze" breakouts places even more acne-causing bacteria on skin.
Some dermatologists choose to place female clients suffering with adult acne on oral contraceptives. Oral contraceptives contain oestrogen and progestin, which can help decrease the androgen activity responsible for adult acne. While often effective, this does leave clients open to side effects that accompany oral contraceptives, including bloating, nausea and increased risk for blood clots and strokes. Dermatologists may also choose to put clients on a specific type of steroid, such as prednisone, to reduce the stress related hormone reaction. However, steroids, taken internally or applied topically can aggravate acne, not to mention that any kind of prolonged use of steroids can have adverse effects on one's health.
